No Betting Odds on Fitna Movie, But Vegas Line on Dancing With the Stars

We are still waiting for one of the sportsbooks to post infinity-to-1 odds on the Geert Wilders film Fitna to win the 2009 Academy Award for Best Short Film. Wilders makes a movie that actually blames the terrorists for terrorism. This is a radical deviation from the inevitable nominees that will "document" that George Bush and the USA is the root of all evil.

We expect whoever first makes a documentary painting radical, militant bigot preacher Jeremiah Wright as a victim of a racist media to go away with the prize. But it's a long way before the 2009 Oscar betting line gets posted.

While we await Fitna proposition bets, gamblers at NewBodog can bet on whether or not the Screen Actors Guild will hold a strike by the end of July. "No" is the heavy favorite at -600.

Better yet, or some may say "bettor yet," online bettors can also wager on who will win ABC's sixth version of Dancing With the Stars. Ice skater Kristi Yamaguchi is the slight favorite at 9/5 with the NFL's Jason Taylor at 7/4.

Some guy named Mario is 19/4, with Cristian de la Fuente at 10/1. Adam Carolla is given a decent shot at 18/1. Hot babe Shannon Elizabeth is 25/1. Elizabeth is an actress, model and poker player. Poker? He wouldn't want to?

The ageing Priscilla Presley is a long shot at 30/1, but she's given a better chance than both Marissa Jaret Winokur and Steve Guttenberg, each at 50/1. Check out the live updated odds as the show progresses.

The Masters, POTUS, American Idol, and Dancing With the Stars Live Betting Odds

What do John McCain, David Archuleta, Kristi Yamaguchi and Tiger Woods have in common? Probably not much other than each is the favorite to win their big events: the US Presidential Election, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and the Masters Tournament 2008 respectively.

Yes McCain, thanks to Hillary Clinton's tall tale, we mean "misspeaking" about being under gunfire in Bosnia and Barack Obama's minister Jeremiah Wright's racist, anti-American comments, the once left for the dead McCain is now 20/21 to be elected POTUS. Previously the favorite Clinton is now 9/1, while Obama stands at 8/7.

Clinton is though expected to win the key Pennsylvania primary at -225.

The American Idol betting line has Archuleta at 13/10 as he's been the live odds favorite from the beginning. Already gamblers can ante up on which gender will win Big Brother 9. Male is the favorite -160.

The sportsbooks are not leaving out movie fans who can wager on, "Will 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' have higher Opening Weekend sales than the first three 'Indiana Jones' movies combined?"  If you believe no, you win $250 for every $100 risked.

Will 'Hell's Kitchen 4' host Gordon Ramsay kick a contestant off the show during a service?  NewBodog says "yes" is +225. Christina is the favorite to win at even money.

Memphis-Kansas Men's Basketball Proposition Wagers

We previewed the pointspread winner for the Kansas Jayhawks and Memphis Tigers Men's basketball National Championship game. Now the staff of OffshoreInsiders.com takes a glance at proposition bets for the big game.

Sports bettors can predict how many points marquee players will score. The over/under for total points by Brandon Rush is 16. One can also bet on who will be leading at the half and at the end of the game. For instance, perhaps Memphis will have the edge at intermission, but Kansas gets the big prize.

On one hand, the oddsmakers expect a very close game, yet basketball gamblers can bet on Memphis to win by two points or less and get +900. Yes, that means punters win nine times what they must risk.

Will there be another blowout just like the semi-final games? Kansas is +2000 to win by 14-16 points.

Bet online regarding the total points and rebound combined of Sasha Kaun (over/under 12), Darnell Jackson (16), Darrell Arthur (17), or Mario Chambers (18).

Cy McCormick of the online betting syndicate MasterLockLine.com thinks the most interesting bet is in which team scores 10 points first. Memphis is the modest favorite at -120. The same odds apply for the squad to reach the 20-point barrier.

There are also various betting options on Antonio Anderson, Joey Dorsey, and Shawn Taggart not to mention players paired against each other much like the popular NFL fantasy football style betting.

Midwest Region NCAA Tournament Preview

2008
April

marltonnj — @ 15:52

The Midwest Region of the 2008 Men's College Basketball NCAA Tournament may be the most competitive as far as the oddsmakers are concerned. Five teams are within 10/1 betting odds to win the office pool bracket.

Top seed Kansas is even money to take home the region's top prize. The Georgetown Hoyas are next at 10/3. With a great inside game, the Hoyas may be primed to win it all. The sportsbooks don't find much difference among the top contenders as Wisconsin trails closely at 9/2.

Clemson, from the top heavy ACC is 15/2, while USC is 10/1. The Trojans improved late in the year as frosh O.J. Mayo peaked. They could be primed to knock off a higher seed.

Looking for a team to get upset early in your bracket pool? Vanderbilt is 14/1 despite being seeded fourth, which ahead of the aforementioned Clemson and USC.

CBS announcer Billy Packer has singled out Villanova as one of his dark horses. Should they equal their magic run of the Rollie Massimino and go to the Final 4, they will pay Wildcats backers 50/1.

Another popular dark horse Davidson checks in at 25/1.
